Beaufort Wind Scale
The Beaufort Wind Scale was designed in 1805 by Sir Francis Beaufort, a
rear admiral in the British navy, to describe the wind's effect on
sailing ships. The scale is a series of numbers from 0 to 17 that
indicate wind speed.
