Boat Docking - Wind Tracker™
Windsock deficiencies explained.
Visibility up to 1/4 mile away!
There are some very good web sites devoted to and describing how to dock a boat in various wind situations. they illustrate wind direction, boat position, how to approach the boat dock, etc. You can Google "Boat docking in the wind".
So we have the boat, the dock, and the wind. We can see the boat, and we can see the dock. But no one can see the wind. Maybe, but the Wind Tracker animates the wind so well that you know the direction, wind action, and force. So why not use a windsock to do the same thing?
For one, the windsocks only "fill up" with air, do not, and can not animate the wind. In addition their visibility is compromised depending on the force of the wind, and or location. Once the sock fills up the force necessary to fill it keeps it in one direction until the wind force changes that direction. Slight variations in the wind, or shears against the side of the windsock wall are resisted, and unless that side force is greater than the directional force, the windsox true direction is compromised.
Wind is dynamic, and variable and the consequences are made apparent or hidden depending on the method used to monitor it. The Wind Tracker Wind Sock system can measure low winds, high winds, wind shears, and is visible from a minimum of 1/4 mile away. It replaces the ordinary windsocks and has become the new standard for observing the wind in field conditions.
