Wind Directional Wind System flags are designed to work in partnership with our patented pivotal harness system. The flag is 2x6' feet (custom sizes available), fully dyed Alert Orange(tm) or Black & Yellow striped, and reinforced at the fly end with four rows of stitching. The no fray side hem allows graceful movement, which assists in animating the wind. The dynamic design & international safety color is recognizable to all persons. The Wind Directional Wind System flag construction and patented pivotal harness allow the animation of the wind by using wind load factor or the flag, and a multidirectional movement made possible by our patented pivotal harness system.  For the first time you can "see" the wind.  Air moves "against" the fabric not through it and therefore the flag/sock will be moved in a direction relative to the force and direction of that wind.  The patented harness keeps the flag/sock against the wind and creates a full resistance so the slightest breeze creates visible movement in the flag. As the air currents move against and along the flag it rises & falls with side-to-side movement as the wind changes directions. When the flag attempts to "dive off", it is pulled back into the winds force by the harness cords. This patented harness keeps the flag in position and allows it to animate the wind at any speed, and at all times.

The open-ended design of an ordinary sock lets the air move into and through the sock with very little resistance until a sufficient volume of wind force is built up in the sock. By the time the sock "fills" up, wind speeds can be in excess of 8 mile per hour. This is because the air is not only rushing into the sock but it is also rushing out the other end. When the sock is filled with wind that same wind force restricts it from turning to show the immediate and accurate direction of the wind. Variables in wind speed and direction are not usually visible in an ordinary sock design. The basic construction of an ordinary windsock only allows the wind to move into the one opening at the hoop side of the sock. Wind coming from a direction other than the hoop opening cannot enter the sock until it turns into the correct position. Accurate measurements of lower wind speeds are not visible because of this and the fact that when the air moves into it also moves out of the sock before there is enough force to lift the main body of the windsock. Once the windsock is full, additional wind speed is not accurately portrayed because now the sock is full, and any additional force exerted within the sock or along the sides and body, are minimized by the air force within the windsock.

The pivotal harness & flag come assembled. As air currents move along the flag it rises & falls with side-to-side movement as the wind changes directions. When the flag attempts to "dive off", it is pulled back into the winds force by the harness cords. This patented harness and its ability to keep the flag in position allows it to animate the wind at any speed, and at all times.
The patented pivotal harness rotates without the aid of ball bearings or other devices The Glide Plate rotates 360 degrees within the Glide Collar by wind force alone. This is important because there is no added friction to artificially slow down or force to create a spin effect.
Vertical flag movement from side view. The flag lifts the Glide Plate from the surface of the collar and rotates with a minimal amount of surface contact. There are no mechanical parts to jam or wear out.
The harness cords allow the side-to-side tilting motion of the flag which not only detects wind shear and variability of direction, but also creates an animation, and visual recognition of wind variability at a glance.

The Wind Directional Wind System patented pivotal harness system allows an aerodynamically designed pennant to animate the wind. The design and action of the harness allows the specially constructed pennant to move in six different directions, up and down, rotational to 360 degrees, and a side-to-side action. The patented harness design is based on the physical action of the wind against the attached pennants resistance and subsequent shearing off from the wind. The crossbar and attached cords react to this shearing by slacking on one end and tightening on the other. As the pennant starts to dive down, its diving action causes it to turn into the wind again and thereby gaining lift. This occurs each time the wind changes speed or direction. The wind force on the pennant causes this entire sequence of movement, and the pennants symbiotic relationship to the pivotal harness system creates a six directional movement that is instantaneous, eye catching, and calculable.

HOW THE Wind DIRECTIONAL WIND SYSTEM WORKS:

The Wind Directional Wind System flags are designed to work in partnership with our patented pivotal harness system. The flag is 2x8' feet, fully dyed, and reinforced at the fly end with two rows of stitching. The no fray side hem allows graceful movement, which animates the wind. The dynamic design & international colors representing caution are understandable to all persons.

ORDINARY WINDSOCKS OBSOLETE:

The windsock design, or use, is not notably recorded prior to the late 1800's. It appears the sock was adapted from the "Wind-Sail" a wide tube or funnel of canvas used to convey a stream of air into the lower compartments of a ship (Noah Webster Dictionary 1828). The windsocks final fundamental use and design was later developed for use with small aircraft.

Ordinary windsocks cannot accurately indicate wind direction & speed because a volume of air in combination with sufficient wind speed must be realized before the open ended tube is filled and lifted. At that point, the air volume, and wind force in the tube is in direct conflict with any wind directional changes and acting against the sides of the tube. This deficiency in design limits its accuracy and ability to immediately respond to directional changes in the wind at lower speeds. This makes the ordinary airport windsock unsuitable for detection of low wind movement of hazardous airborne materials.

WIND SPEED & DIRECTION
There are a thousand uses for this Wind Dancer system. Shooting ranges, field burning, pesticide applications, oil fields, waste treatment plants, just to name a few.

FIELD OBSERVATION & RECOGNITION:
As an observation and field recognition system it gets even better. The visibility is a minimum 1/4-mile away! Landing craft can determine the speed and direction of the wind before approaching shore. Balloonist, surfers, hang gliders, para sailers, parachute landings, use this flag with the field guide for instant visual recognition of the wind direction, speed, and gusts.

LOCATORS:
Schools and other organizations can utilize this device to establish areas to assemble. The flag never wraps around the pole, and can be seen from long distances. Use one color to signal "Danger", one for "Meet Here", and another for "All Clear". Scouting groups can establish rendezvous points, camp headquarters, and carry the unit with them for field identification. The pole is fiberglass, telescoping from 8' to 21' high. The pole weight is only 5.5 pounds. Sturdy construction, and made in the USA it has a full one year guarantee.
